Hamburgs Hochsee-Außenposten

Wir Hamburger haben ja so eine Art Mallorca des Nordens als ein Ausflugsziel für besondere Zeiten. Das Besondere an der Passage nach Helgoland mit einem Seebäderschiff ist das Ausbooten mit einem Börteboot. Es gibt Überlegungen, dieses schöne kleine Abenteuer abzuschaffen; hoffentlich kommt es nicht dazu.
Junge, komm bald wieder.

We Hamburgers have a kind of Mallorca of the North as a destination for special times. The special thing about the passage with a seafaring ship to Helgoland is the disembarkation with a Börteboot. There are considerations to abolish this nice little adventure; hopefully it will not come to that.

Als kleiner Junge war ich mit meinen Eltern in Bremerhaven, wir haben an der Columbuskaje die ‚United States‚ bestaunt, sie ist bis heute Titelträgerin des Blauen Bandes als schnellster Dampfer auf der Transatlantikroute. Das Foto hab ich mit meiner tollen Dacora 101F rapid aufgenommen, etwa 1966.

As a little boy I was with my parents in Bremerhaven, we admired the ‚United States‘ at the Columbus quay, she is still the title holder of the Blue Ribbon as the fastest steamer on the transatlantic route. I took the photo with my great Dacora 101F rapid, about 1966.

Diesen Moment werde ich nie vergessen: Chaostage in Hannover, 1984.
Die Punks rannten auf breiter Front los, ich wollte das unbedingt so von vorn fotografieren, und konnte mich wirklich erst im allerletzten Moment noch zur Seite ‚retten‘.
Dieses Bild aus der Reportage erschien nun im Musems-Magazin des „Haus der Geschichte“ in Bonn.

I will never forget this moment: Chaosdays in Hanover, 1984.
The punks ran off on a broad front, I really wanted to photograph it from the front, and was only able to ’save‘ myself to the side at the very last moment.
This picture from the reportage has now appeared in the Musems magazine of the „Haus der Geschichte“ in Bonn.
